Another insightful column, Stefan. I agree with you on the cost of a degree. With schools like Notre Dame, Nothwestern and Harvard you are paying for prestige and connections, not just the education. I just don't believe it actually costs $80,000 to send a kid to any of those places - especially when you get TAs in many of the classes for the first 2 years. Better to go to a junior college for 2 years and a (over priced) state school for the last 2.
